Soft Pastel Wedding at the San Ysidro Ranch 150 150 La Fete Weddings

Soft Pastel Wedding at the San Ysidro Ranch

We could not imagine a more beautiful color palette for a summertime wedding at the San Ysidro Ranch. Super soft shades of blue, pink, lavender, green and ivory absolutely shine at this lush garden venue. Jessie & Juan celebrated their wedding day amongst 50 of their closest friends & family members. The couple exchanged their vows in the ceremony garden and then dined alfresco on the Hydrangea Patio and danced the night away to their favorite songs.

Each place-setting was carefully curated with layers of mixed white china from Pretty Vintage Rentals and topped with a menu that had each guests name written at the top with soft blue calligraphy. CocoRose Florals finished the look by tying delicate stems of lavender & sweet peas to each of the fresh white napkins with a raw silk ribbon.

This spectacular wedding was held on a warm day in October, and as the sun began to set the San Ysidro Ranch warmed up the guests with bowls of their signature Tortilla Soup. The candlelit dinner continued, followed by an organic baby greens salad & then the choice of Filet of Beef or Pan Roasted King Salmon. Toasts were shared throughout the evening as guests celebrated the newlyweds under the twinkle lights and stars.

One of our favorite moments of the evening is when Jessie surprised her parents by playing their wedding song right after the cake cutting. Her parents were so touched and as the two of them danced together, reminiscing about their own wedding day! There wasn’t a dry eye in the room & each guest could truly feel the love shared within this family.

Weddings like these don’t just magically happen! We could not do our job without the help of an incredible team of professionals. Here is the list of vendors who made this dreamy wedding day come to life:

Dreamy Sunstone Villa Wedding on Style Me Pretty

Sweet Words from Style Me Pretty: “When my husband and I renew our vows one day, we’ll be calling La Fete Weddings, because this right here is all my wedding dreams come to life. I honestly thought I was looking at a dreamy, Italian destination wedding the first time I scrolled through the beautiful gallery of images by Brumley and Wells and was completely blown away when I realized this gorgeous event took place much closer to home – Sunstone Vineyards and Winery in California! This European-esque celebration came together through the work of some of the industry’s finest vendors – Archive RentalsTEAM Hair and Makeup, and Ambient Event Design just to name a few – and is one of those weddings you won’t be able to stop thinking about for days.”

From Style Me Pretty: “Charmed with old world elegance, masterfully considered design, and the classic romance of stone, hand-hewn beams from Queen Elizabeth’s rose garden, and brooding tones of natural light pouring in to every room, Sunstone Winery provides the perfect setting for a timeless wedding. Brett and Sarah’s day was no exception. The ceremony took place under the live oak, surrounded by the property’s vineyard, and followed by the reception in the back grounds of the estate.”

Lavender Wedding at Crossroads 150 150 La Fete Weddings

Lavender Wedding at Crossroads

Lauren and Kasey attended a wedding that we had designed for their good friends Missy & Josh (view their wedding here!) and once we got to know them, we knew they were going to be a lot of fun to work with! With spring in the air and fresh wildflowers all around us- we are looking back at this beautiful lavender wedding at Crossroads estate.

Lauren chose a stunning lace embellished gown with a striking low cut back and carried a fresh loose bouquet of garden roses, wispy greenery, and accents of lavender. Her bridesmaids donned long flowing lavender chiffon dresses and carried smaller versions of the brides bouquet!

When designing the ceremony space for their wedding, we did not want to take attention away from the enormous oak tree that stands tall in the background. Laura of Cody Floral Design brought in eight large ferns which we used to line down the aisle, then mixed in some of our large vintage lanterns to add height & variety. Later, we repurposed the ferns & lanterns along the band’s stage to soften the space!

Inside the barn at Crossroads we brought in a combination of round and long dining tables; some with exposed wood which were more Edison Style. Then we introduced a gorgeous embellished white linen overlay which we used for the cake & head table. Each of the wood tables featured lush arrangements of garden roses, ranunculus, dahlias, and wild greenery which spilled out of the arrangements and over the table’s edges.

We layered stacks of ornate white china at each place setting & finished the look with lovely cut crystal glassware from Town & Country!  We hope you enjoyed this post about Lauren & Kasey’s lavender wedding at Crossroads. We are excited to be working at Crossroads again this September and bringing even more beauty into that space!

“Sarah and Chase love any excuse to dress up, so they knew they wanted a black tie wedding from the start. When they took their super laid-back personalities and desire for tropical décor into consideration, they knew they needed a hand planning their dream wedding. Enter La Fete Weddings. The Santa Barbara wedding planning team executed Sarah and Chase’s wedding with style and grace, and even included fun reception details like an ice luge, a classic black and white palette, and tropical fronds as far as the eye can see. Johnny B Films and photographer Courtney Aaron captured every moment of Sarah and Chase’s wedding beautifully, including their regal ceremony on Four Seasons Resort The Biltmore‘s lawn – the same place Sarah’s parents were married 31 years ago!”

“Our colors were white, natural greenery, black and gold. I really wanted the greenery to be the standout feature with lots of white accents. However, I have seen so many all white weddings and didn’t just want to repeat that. Instead, we mixed in black and gold elements to make it feel slightly modern and give it a black tie feel.”

“I wanted a really romantic black tie wedding with a natural/tropic feel. Which when we were first talking about it, sounded so weird. But once we started picking our decor and our amazing florist sent inspiration images, it really started coming together. It was really hard to communicate at first exactly what we wanted, mostly because we had never planned a wedding before. What was most important was that the wedding felt fresh and unique and our amazing wedding planners, Kaitlin and Colette from La Fete Weddings worked with us for months and really nailed the theme in the end.”

“The pastor who married us also married my brother and is a very close family friend. It was so special to me because he has known me almost my entire life and made the ceremony so personal. We also had readings from the grooms sister and one of his childhood best friends. Finally, we chose to do traditional vows as well as write our own. And if you are on the fence about writing your own, I highly suggest doing it. It was so special and our guests loved our vows. We got compliments on them the whole night.”

“I am SUPER laid back. I knew I really wanted a cool vibe to the wedding, without it feeling like another shabby chic and blush wedding. I think one of the first things I told Kaitlin and Colette was that no pink (except the champagne!) would be allowed at the wedding. My family also spends a lot of time in Maui and I wanted to bring elements of that to the wedding as well, hence the tropical greenery. We decided on a black tie wedding mostly because we love dressing up and wanted the wedding to feel like a formal Southern California party. However, we are both super laid back so we knew we wanted it to be a party and not stuffy, and I think we achieved it!”

“I really wanted unique centerpieces, meaning, lots of greenery and mixing a natural esthetic with a black tie theme. I also knew I wanted lots of white and ethereal lighting”

whitte-1600whitte-1047whitte-1033

Be patient and trust your wedding planners. If you choose to have one (which I cannot recommend enough- the stress they save on the day of alone is worth it), do your research and pick one with elements of their previous weddings you really love. We were so lucky because Kaitlin and Colette were so communicative and kept us on a timeline so we didn’t feel like we were doing everything at once. And trusting them to be creative when you cannot communicate exactly what you want really worked out for us.”

“The main dining room took my breath away when we walked in before our guests were shown in. It was everything I had dreamed of and more. The ice luge was also such a hit, the station was so elegant and the drinks were amazing.”

whitte-1240whitte-1045whitte-1341

“We had a coconut chiffon cake with passion fruit mango creme cake an a dessert bar with lemon meringue tarts, tiramisu, cookies, sables and macaroons, red velvet cupcakes and Swedish creme puffs. Our signature drinks were a grapefruit basil martini, passionfruit jalapeño martini and old fashioned’s.”

whitte-1394

“Our photographer was also a family friend (you’re probably seeing a theme here… we really had THE BEST vendors), and so we felt so comfortable with her. She also did our engagement pictures and I cannot say enough good things about her. She captured the evening perfectly and our guests LOVED her.”

Blush Pink Wedding at the San Ysidro Ranch 150 150 La Fete Weddings

Blush Pink Wedding at the San Ysidro Ranch

Working with Tina and Jonathan was so much fun for us!  They were filled with ideas and their love for each other was so apparent.  When we first met they shared their story of  securing a heart shaped lock onto the famous chain link fence of the Pont des Arts on Lover’s Bridge in Paris. We began deigning their event with the heart shape wax seal on their invitations, and carried the design through to the petal design on the aisle of their ceremony.  We also used gorgeous heart shaped handmade soaps, which were boxed and doubled as an escort and favor.  Jonathan bought Tina a beautiful heart shaped locket as a gift for her to wear on their wedding day.  We loved their adorable sense of humor and their love for each other  really shows in the images.   We wish Tina and Jonathan a lifetime of happiness and we were so honored to be a part of such a special day.

Tina & Jonathan’s blush pink and gold wedding was held at the San Ysidro Ranch.  The stunning images were captured by  Jessica Lewis Photography.  It was so wonderful to re-live this day through your gorgeous photos!   Camilla Svensson Burns created the lovely flower arrangements and ceremony decor. Lazaro Press designed the most beautiful invitation suite with tea-stained doilies and gold wax seals with their heart design, and Ambient Event Design set the mood with their lighting. Thank you to everyone involved, including Dwight Kennedy, Barbra Mousouris, and Classic Party Rentals,  you  helped make this wedding so spectacular and each one of you was a dream to work with.

3 Tips on How To Choose The Perfect Color for Your Bridesmaids Dresses 150 150 La Fete Weddings

3 Tips on How To Choose The Perfect Color for Your Bridesmaids Dresses

Choosing colors for your wedding can be overwhelming these days. With endless options from hundreds of dress lines, and then Pinterest is showing you every style you could ever dream of and more… our brides often come to us in a panic! Well today I am going to share how to choose the perfect color for your bridesmaids dresses. The first thing we recommend is looking through photos of yourself (the bride) and figuring out what color looks best on you. That color should be what your bridesmaids are wearing. It’s that simple! All the time we hear, “Well, shouldn’t my girls be wearing colors that match my table linens and decor?” the answer is- Not necessarily. When was the last time you saw a picture of a bridesmaid standing next to the dining tables? It doesn’t happen. Your bridesmaids are always going to be photographed next to you and that is pretty much it. Check out some of our beautiful La Fete Brides & Bridesmaids for some examples of how to choose the perfect color for your bridesmaids dresses and see what works:

When deciding on colors and length you should consider the time of year that you are getting married. If you plan on having an outdoor wedding in the middle of summer, you should consider a shorter length dress and perhaps a fun pop of color. If you are getting married in the fall or winter and you plan on having a more formal attire wedding, I would opt for a longer dresses and colors that work with your skin tone.

Another tip is to think about your ceremony backdrop. Are you getting married in a very ornate church? Or in a garden? The color of your bridesmaids dresses should compliment the background, not fight it!

Since bridesmaid dresses are often not “One Size Fits All” I would recommend taking a few of your friends shopping for dresses with you. That way you will know what they feel most comfortable in and it makes for a very fun day with your girlfriends! Once you have picked up your bridesmaids dresses and your girls are all having them fitted and altered, we recommend asking them to have their seamstress hold on to the scraps of fabric. (Your florist will love you for this) These scraps will help your florist to design your  flowers in the right color scheme and can also be used to wrap the stems of their bouquets.

How to ask your bridesmaids to be in your wedding: 150 150 La Fete Weddings

How to ask your bridesmaids to be in your wedding:

As a newly engaged bride, the first thing I wanted to do was get my wedding party sorted out so that I could have a little help from my girls! I wanted to think of a creative way to tell each one of my bridesmaids how much they mean to me, and send them a little present to get them excited about the bachelorette party. I found these adorable letter-pressed cards (in my color theme, of course) on Sugar Paper’s website.

I found these adorable letter-pressed cards (in my color theme, of course) on Sugar Paper’s website.

Next I shopped all over town looking for some cute and affordable gift ideas and settled on beach bags since my goal is to get all of my bridesmaids to Cabo San Lucas for my bachelorette party! I started with an assortment of colored  beach bags, bright beach towels, sunscreen and wayfarer sunglasses, then got them in the mail as fast as I could. It was so fun to wait for each girl to get their present and call me screaming “I’M SO EXCITED!!!!”  I highly urge each bride out there to get creative in asking your girls, even if it is just a nice handwritten card sent in the mail.
