When the weather starts to change in the fall, we begin dreaming up new ideas for how we will design our annual Christmas Tea. We find ourselves looking forward to this wonderful Christmas Season all year. This is a tradition we have continued since Kaitlin was around 6 years old, but over the past few years we have changed the way we do them. Five years ago we thought- “Why not turn this into a photo shoot opportunity?” So we started by decorating an elegant table & inviting our closest friends in the event industry. We love this chance to treat these wonderful  ladies to an afternoon that completely pampers them. We share our highlights from the year, along with goals we have for next year, and reflect on the ways that God has blessed our lives.

We always love any chance to design something completely different than a wedding & this time we were excited to work with such a rich color palette.  We were shopping in Palm Desert and found these fun silver taper candleholders shaped like antlers and right away we knew we wanted to create something rustic, but still glamourous, moody  and romantic. We chose the stunning Velvet linen in Wine from La Tavola along with Topaz Burgundy napkins and chair pads to keep the monochromatic look we were going for! We also adorned this insanely gorgeous chandelier with fresh sprigs of magnolia- Sending a special thank you to Lani from LBPS!! We always enjoy picking up fresh flowers and greens from Florabundance and arranging the flowers ourselves-This is one of our favorite parts! Thank you to Town and Country Event Rentals for supplying their rustic x-back chairs along with some of the lovely china & glassware!

We are so incredibly thankful for these gorgeous photos from Melissa Musgrove Photography– You always capture our Christmas Tea with such elegance and the group shot of all of us warms our heart! Thank you again!

La Fete’s Annual Christmas Tea 2013

Over the past few years our annual Christmas Tea has evolved. What once began as a much larger party with around 12-15 women, has downsized into designing an elegant table top for a photo shoot, then we are able to sit down with about 6 of our dearest friends in the industry to reflect on what the year has brought us. The theme for this year’s tea was God’s goodness. We each shared how God has blessed us this past year and laughed over some of our favorite Christmas memories. The christmas tea has become an event that each of us look forward to each year. It is a place where we can share our hearts and be blessed by each others company. This year we designed our table around this fabulous blue linen by La Tavola. We fell in love with the color and thought we could really dress it up with TONS of textured candles. We also found the perfect chargers from BBJ Linens to complete the look! We added in the sleek and stylish ghost chairs from Town & Country, which accented all of the glass candlesticks and glassware and created a more modern look. Thank you so much to our dear friend Stephanie Hogue for taking these beautiful pictures for us this year!

We made homemade fresh fruit tarts for each guest, along with our signature heart shaped scones we make every year!

Wishing everyone a happy, healthy and successful 2014,

With love from Colette & Kaitlin at La Fete Weddings!

A La Fete Tradition: The Annual Christmas Tea

As we approach the holiday season it inspires us to think outside the box and design our next Christmas Tea. Colette began the annual Christmas Tea tradition many years ago and has always enjoyed hosting a gathering of friends in her home . Each year we take the time to relax and reflect on the joys this past year has brought to us. From a young age I remember serving the women tea, passing trays of food around the table and sneaking a few scones to my dad from the kitchen. Three years ago we decided to mix things up. As wedding planners we are asked often to design photo shoots, which can be costly and we often find them to be a waste of a beautiful table… So we began beautifully designing our Christmas Tea so that we could do a photo shoot and then invite all of our close friends in the industry over to enjoy it! We figure if you are going to set a stunning table you might as well throw a party right? We are now busy finalizing all the details for this year and thought we should share some of our favorite photos from 2010, 2011, and 2012, Enjoy!

La Fete’s Annual Christmas Tea 2012

Every year we set aside a day in December to reflect on the year that has past, share our favorite memories, and honor some of our closest friends in the event industry. This is special time for all of us to enjoy each others company around a beautiful table. This Christmas Tea was particularly special because we incorporated a company called The Giving Keys which employs the homeless and they are able to use their money from hand-stamping words onto the keys, to get off the street and finally enjoy a home of their own. When you receive a key you wear the necklace until you find a person that you feel needs the word on your key more than you do, and then you give away your key to them.  A friend of mine (also named Caitlin) started this pay-it-forward concept a few years ago and we LOVED the idea of incorporating the keys into our place cards. Heidi from Zenadia Designs  helped us to design these cards which had each woman’s name and then a short phrase describing why each word represented them. Example: Melissa, we are amazed at your ability to… and the key read “Inspire”. Each woman was incredibly touched, and we all teared up when we shared why we admire each one of those women with their specific word on the keys.

These pictures have been featured today on Pretty My Party! Click Here to see it the full post.

We designed the centerpiece mostly out of all dried materials such as pods, ornaments, cotton balls, and tufts of organza and then we plugged in a few fresh peonies! (Our favorite!) Boy, you should have seen us at Michael’s…We were not messing around! “What about this?!?” and “Oooohh…. We definitely need this!!!” But we plan on re-using all of the dried elements and converting it into a wreath for next Christmas!

We worked with Town and Country Rentals to add the gorgeous chairs which match our living room furniture, the metallic chargers and stunning silverware. We also included the incredible sequin linen and napkins from La Tavola.

Thank you so so much to Melissa Musgrove Photography for showing up early to shoot these gorgeous pictures for us! We are so blessed to have such a talented and dear friend to help us out!

Christmas Tea 2011

It has been a tradition for many years to gather a few friends around the table for afternoon Christmas Tea, and this year wasn’t any different.  It is a time to reflect, share our hearts together as busy women, relax and enjoy each other’s company.  We laugh, cry, eat, drink champagne, and enjoy a few hours of refreshment together.   Preparing the tea, sandwiches, scones, cookies as well as setting the table has made such fond memories for Kaitlin and I.  This year we had fun finding all the flowers and putting the centerpiece together,  buying the ornaments, glassware and designing the table with the eggplant lamour linen and napkin from Creative Coverings , and the pretty topper by La Tavola called Paloma in Platinum.
It is a special time to say thank you to a few friends that we work so closely with.
It has become the highlight of the Christmas Season for us both.
We wish you all a very Merry Christmas, and a Healthy and Happy New Year!
See you in 2012~
xoxo
