Elegant Wedding at Crossroads Estate in Los Olivos, California

Elegant Wedding at Crossroads Estate in Los Olivos, California 150 150 La Fete Weddings

Alyson & Matt chose to hold their elegant wedding at Crossroads Estate in Los Olivos. This venue is the perfect location for celebrating your wedding all weekend long. They checked into the house along with a few family members and close friends and enjoyed a full weekend of wine tastings, intimate family dinners, their wedding day & then visited nearby restaurant for Sunday Brunch.

The decorated vintage bicycle was an important detail for the two of them as it tied into their engagement story. One of Alyson & Matt’s favorite things to do in Los Angeles is take long bike rides along the beach. One day after returning from a long trip, Matt suggested they take a nice long ride- despite it being cold & cloudy. After a 12 mile ride down to Manhattan Beach where they stopped for lunch & on the way back Matt suggested they pull over to take a picture and have a little break on a bench. He pulled out his phone and begin playing a slide show that he had put together to one of their favorite songs, with all of the photos of the two of them & the adventures they had been on since they started dating. That is when he got down on one knee & pulled out a ring box from his backpack and asked Alyson to marry him! Right after that, the sun came out and they captured some gorgeous photos taken by at total stranger on the bike path.

Alyson & Matt wanted each and every one of their guests to feel like they were a special part of their wedding ceremony. In order to do this, we displayed a sweet vintage cart filled with white roses & each guest was asked to take a rose and place it at the altar to fill in the circle around the two of them. This was a reminder to Alyson & Matt that they are surrounded by the love & friendship of everyone celebrating them on their special day! We made sure that the circle of roses was “almost” entirely closed and then in the middle of the ceremony the parents of the Bride & Groom were asked to come forward with their roses & close in the circle. It was a beautiful moment & a detail we would love to repeat at future weddings!

Alyson absolutely loves succulents and was excited to incorporate them into every area of her wedding day. We were inspired by the gorgeous variety of colors succulents can range in- from soft silvery greens to faded lavenders and even deep rich purples! She also wanted to add elements that would dress up the Pole Barn, which is where we added in the fabric draping & additional lighting & eucalyptus dressed chandeliers. While also keeping some rustic elements such as the raw vineyard dining tables, wine barrels and vintage wine goblets- keeping everything in theme with the fact that we were on a working vineyard.

LOVE NOTE FROM OUR CLIENTS:

It was truly the most spectacular day of our entire lives, and it’s true what they say, it was over way too quickly!  We enjoyed every minute, and the best part was that our guests had an incredible time as well!  The word ‘epic’ has been used on multiple occasions to describe the day 🙂

We could not be more pleased with how everything turned out, and it was obvious that no detail was left untouched.  Everything looked more beautiful than I could have ever imagined.  I was so excited to get Grace’s preview photos, because if felt like the day went by so quickly, I wanted to be able to see everything again through the photos.

We are so lucky to have these amazing memories of our perfect wedding day, and it would not have been possible without you both.

Thank you again!

Alyson & Matt

Lavender Wedding at Crossroads

Lavender Wedding at Crossroads 150 150 La Fete Weddings

Lauren and Kasey attended a wedding that we had designed for their good friends Missy & Josh (view their wedding here!) and once we got to know them, we knew they were going to be a lot of fun to work with! With spring in the air and fresh wildflowers all around us- we are looking back at this beautiful lavender wedding at Crossroads estate.

Lauren chose a stunning lace embellished gown with a striking low cut back and carried a fresh loose bouquet of garden roses, wispy greenery, and accents of lavender. Her bridesmaids donned long flowing lavender chiffon dresses and carried smaller versions of the brides bouquet!

When designing the ceremony space for their wedding, we did not want to take attention away from the enormous oak tree that stands tall in the background. Laura of Cody Floral Design brought in eight large ferns which we used to line down the aisle, then mixed in some of our large vintage lanterns to add height & variety. Later, we repurposed the ferns & lanterns along the band’s stage to soften the space!

Inside the barn at Crossroads we brought in a combination of round and long dining tables; some with exposed wood which were more Edison Style. Then we introduced a gorgeous embellished white linen overlay which we used for the cake & head table. Each of the wood tables featured lush arrangements of garden roses, ranunculus, dahlias, and wild greenery which spilled out of the arrangements and over the table’s edges.

We layered stacks of ornate white china at each place setting & finished the look with lovely cut crystal glassware from Town & Country!  We hope you enjoyed this post about Lauren & Kasey’s lavender wedding at Crossroads. We are excited to be working at Crossroads again this September and bringing even more beauty into that space!

Modern Wedding at The El Encanto

Modern Wedding at The El Encanto 150 150 La Fete Weddings

The El Encanto is one of the most breathtaking locations to hold a wedding. With their incredibly unique ceremony garden which surrounds the lily pond, the photo opportunities are endless, and the views of Santa Barbara are spectacular. Its no wonder our bride Kimberly fell in love with it when we first toured the property (with hard hats) before the hotel had officially re-opened!

Kimberly and Paul planned their modern wedding at the El Encanto all the way from Korea! We actually only met with Paul once & Kimberly twice. They had simple and sophisticated taste, and really wanted to incorporate  lots of water elements along with the texture of fish scales. All of the paper products and invitations were custom designed and each one was handmade by the Groom (aside from the lazer cutting which was done in Korea). The textures of the linens brought in the fish-scale patterns and textures and the unique floral arrangements from NLC Productions tied everything together perfectly. We also had a lot of fun creating the water table filled with gold fish for the escort card display! The day was beautifully captured by the talented Ashleigh Taylor Photography who never disappoints!

A La Fete Tradition: The Annual Christmas Tea

A La Fete Tradition: The Annual Christmas Tea 150 150 La Fete Weddings

As we approach the holiday season it inspires us to think outside the box and design our next Christmas Tea. Colette began the annual Christmas Tea tradition many years ago and has always enjoyed hosting a gathering of friends in her home . Each year we take the time to relax and reflect on the joys this past year has brought to us. From a young age I remember serving the women tea, passing trays of food around the table and sneaking a few scones to my dad from the kitchen. Three years ago we decided to mix things up. As wedding planners we are asked often to design photo shoots, which can be costly and we often find them to be a waste of a beautiful table… So we began beautifully designing our Christmas Tea so that we could do a photo shoot and then invite all of our close friends in the industry over to enjoy it! We figure if you are going to set a stunning table you might as well throw a party right? We are now busy finalizing all the details for this year and thought we should share some of our favorite photos from 2010, 2011, and 2012, Enjoy!

Kiley and Cody were absolutely perfect for each other, and a dream for me to work with. They both had the sweetest and most genuine personalities that made working with them feel like spending time with friends. Every time we met with Kiley we would dream about the color tones, theme and decor, and after each meeting Kiley was more & more excited! We finally settled on a fuchsia and purple wedding and it turned out stunning! When it was time to sneak Kiley into the reception to get a peak of what we had created, she cried… She was completely overwhelmed with how beautiful it looked and told us it was better than she ever could have imagined! The wedding was an incredible success and I am so thankful that Melissa Musgrove Photography was on the team to capture all of these gorgeous details!

Daddy’s Little Girl

Daddy’s Little Girl 150 150 La Fete Weddings
When I saw these beautiful images captured by Stephanie Hogue they brought tears to my eyes.  I couldn’t wait to post about it.  What a special time for a bride and her father on her wedding day.  To have time to relax once she is dressed and ready, then have the photographer capture the two of you alone and just be in the moment.  A flood of emotion will be felt and it is such a special time for both.  For the Dads who aren’t as involved in the planning as the Moms are, it’s a precious and very intimate time to share a few minutes alone with his daughter before the big walk down the aisle.
I would really encourage every bride to do this as it will mean so much to your Dad!
These photos tell the story of a love between a Father and his daughter, and the moments that are so very tender on her wedding day.

Crystallized Purple Estate Wedding

Crystallized Purple Estate Wedding 150 150 La Fete Weddings
What a joy it was to help Dana and Mike’s dreams come to reality. We couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful day to create such a breathtaking ceremony. The ocean reflected through the clear glass vases, and the large purple arrangements were spectacular.
One of our favorite elements of this wedding was the wedding cake hanging from a tree!
From the Mother of the Bride Via Yelp:

“Ive worked with La Fete Weddings on many weddings over the years so when it came time for my daughter’s wedding, June 30th, 2012, I knew Colette and Kaitlin would be a perfect fit.

Ive given a review based on my experience as a wedding photographer, but this review is based on my experience as a Mother of the Bride. She exceeded our expectations. Not just on a few things, but everything. Her talent, skill, grace, and attention to detail, is as good as it gets.

Colette and Kaitlin were remarkable. I rarely get to use the word remarkable. But that’s the word that fits our experience.

Our wedding was at a private estate. Which in itself presents so many extra challenges. But if there was a glitch, we never knew it. Absolutely everything was smooth as silk. She was right on with all her recommendations. (Of course I was smart enough to take her suggestions.) Tee hee..

I would, and do, recommend them in a heartbeat. I could never write all the details to which they cared for on our event. From the very start, they were asking questions and taking notes on things I would never have thought I needed to know.

The design they created was gorgeous, fluid, cohesive, and simply breathtaking.
My daughter wanted the color purple. If I’m honest, I winced a bit, because I had just come off of photographing 5 purple weddings in a row. Don’t get me wrong, I too love the color purple and all the weddings were very pretty. But I was hoping for something more unique so it would feel more personal.

Colette said “trust me”. I did. And it was glorious! My daughter and I could not imagine how anything could be more beautiful. The guests were so complimentary of the wedding and we have to thank Colette and Kaitlin for their vision and talent and love.

I wholeheartedly, and without reservation recommend LaFete Weddings for not only your wedding, but any event that you want to be beautiful and flawless.”

Room Forty Tasting at Vibiana

Room Forty Tasting at Vibiana 150 150 La Fete Weddings
Last week we were honored to be invited to a spectacular edible auditing luncheon with one of LA’s hottest new culinary operations. The event was hosted by Room Forty, a catering company without walls… And that is exactly what they are. We were so impressed with each of 9 courses we were served. The flavors, the presentation and the service was impeccable. We look forward to finding an opportunity to work together with these culinary masterminds.
The location for this event was The Vibiana, a historic Los Angeles cathedral that has been transformed into an wedding, event, and preforming arts venue. It is so rich with history and the detailing in the architecture made it incredibly unique. Our minds were overloaded with ideas for a future wedding here.
Bibb lettuces, pickled market vegetables, chèvre, house candied nuts, and a blonde raisin vinaigrette.
Heirloom tomatoes, house smoked burrata, balsamic caviar, with an opal basil vinaigrette.
Jidori chicken confit, brussel spouts, fingerling potato, and a white bean cassoulet.
Covina seabass, smoked soba noodle nest, dashi broth, and pho salad.
“Smokey Bobby Burns” bowmore legend whisky, carpano antica, beef jerky, benedictine.
Served with Prime braised beef short ribs, parsley root puree, baby vegetable, and braising jus.

Christmas Tea 2011

Christmas Tea 2011 150 150 La Fete Weddings
It has been a tradition for many years to gather a few friends around the table for afternoon Christmas Tea, and this year wasn’t any different.  It is a time to reflect, share our hearts together as busy women, relax and enjoy each other’s company.  We laugh, cry, eat, drink champagne, and enjoy a few hours of refreshment together.   Preparing the tea, sandwiches, scones, cookies as well as setting the table has made such fond memories for Kaitlin and I.  This year we had fun finding all the flowers and putting the centerpiece together,  buying the ornaments, glassware and designing the table with the eggplant lamour linen and napkin from Creative Coverings , and the pretty topper by La Tavola called Paloma in Platinum.
It is a special time to say thank you to a few friends that we work so closely with.
It has become the highlight of the Christmas Season for us both.
We wish you all a very Merry Christmas, and a Healthy and Happy New Year!
See you in 2012~
xoxo
