La Fete Weddings featured in California Wedding Day Magazine La Fete Weddings

Here at La Fete Weddings we are beyond thrilled to share that one of our weddings is featured in newest issue of California Wedding Day Magazine and it is officially on stands now! Make sure to pick up a copy for tons of gorgeous wedding inspiration.

We wanted to share a few of Alyson Magda’s beautiful images from the wedding feature:

Camellia Floral Design used deep shades of pinks, red, and magenta flowers to beautifully compliment the vintage pews that we placed in front of fountain for their ceremony/champagne blessing. The Bride & Groom recited their vows in this gorgeous terraced garden, and as soon as they had sealed the deal with a kiss, the fountain began to bubble as the guests raised their glasses to toast the newlyweds!

The floating style reception was held in a stunning clear tent with a variety of seating areas throughout the space. Including a mixture of lounge vignettes, dining tables, and indoor wood cabanas draped in flowers and romantic fabric. Various linens in shades of champagne, blush, and deep velvet merlot enhanced the floral centerpieces.

Staying true to their vision of a floating style reception, the couple opted for a sampling of food stations, including the “Cabo Hurricane” and “Football Game Day” among others, named for happenings on their path to the altar.

Inside a stunning glass atrium on the property we featured a dessert lovers dream. A dramatic seven tiered cake trimmed with gold embellishments sat atop a colorful bed of flowers, accompanied by cookies, tarts, macarons, and a custom doughnut wall!

La Fete’s Annual Christmas Tea 2014

Christmas Collage

_MG_8310christmas collage2

When the weather starts to change in the fall, we begin dreaming up new ideas for how we will design our annual Christmas Tea. We find ourselves looking forward to this wonderful Christmas Season all year. This is a tradition we have continued since Kaitlin was around 6 years old, but over the past few years we have changed the way we do them. Five years ago we thought- “Why not turn this into a photo shoot opportunity?” So we started by decorating an elegant table & inviting our closest friends in the event industry. We love this chance to treat these wonderful  ladies to an afternoon that completely pampers them. We share our highlights from the year, along with goals we have for next year, and reflect on the ways that God has blessed our lives.

We always love any chance to design something completely different than a wedding & this time we were excited to work with such a rich color palette.  We were shopping in Palm Desert and found these fun silver taper candleholders shaped like antlers and right away we knew we wanted to create something rustic, but still glamourous, moody  and romantic. We chose the stunning Velvet linen in Wine from La Tavola along with Topaz Burgundy napkins and chair pads to keep the monochromatic look we were going for! We also adorned this insanely gorgeous chandelier with fresh sprigs of magnolia- Sending a special thank you to Lani from LBPS!! We always enjoy picking up fresh flowers and greens from Florabundance and arranging the flowers ourselves-This is one of our favorite parts! Thank you to Town and Country Event Rentals for supplying their rustic x-back chairs along with some of the lovely china & glassware!

We are so incredibly thankful for these gorgeous photos from Melissa Musgrove Photography– You always capture our Christmas Tea with such elegance and the group shot of all of us warms our heart! Thank you again!

New Years Wedding at San Ysidro Ranch

New Years Wedding at San Ysidro Ranch 150 150 La Fete Weddings

We are excited to share our first wedding from 2014! Here at La Fete Weddings we LOVE doing the large, beautiful and luxurious events, but we also get just as excited about the small & intimate weddings too! This couple from Texas was so wonderful to work with. Misti loved our designs online and said to us “Here are my colors, and I completely trust that you will make our wedding classic and beautiful for me!”  It was a New Years Wedding at San Ysidro Ranch, and the weather could not have been more perfect. It was a gorgeous sunny day for a wedding which took place in the Wine Cellar and the ceremony was held in the garden in front of the fireplace. This location is so warm and inviting, especially during this time of year.  Misti loved the combination of romantic red mixed with a touch of sparkle in the linens for the New Years wedding.

Misti’s daughters were a delight; it was such a precious moment to watch them walk her down the aisle to her groom, Michael. The gorgeous blooms were arranged by Amy of Ambient Event Design. Misti loved them so much she filled her cottage with them and enjoyed the arrangements for the rest of the week at the Ranch. Colette provided her own dishes and red glassware that were passed down by her grandmother to add a special and unique touch to the table top. We designed custom menus for each place setting with Barbara from Let’s Party.
Melissa Musgrove was the perfect photographer. She captured their love, joy, and all of the details that made that day so special for them. Thank you Melissa!
Shortly after the wedding we received a very nice email from the groom:
” I must admit I was a bit reluctant to hire you because the wedding was small in relation to head count. What I figured out through what you did with our wedding is that no matter how big or small. there is still a lot to pulling them off problem free. You did a wonderful job and it greatly helped with Misti’s stress load.”

A La Fete Tradition: The Annual Christmas Tea

A La Fete Tradition: The Annual Christmas Tea 150 150 La Fete Weddings

As we approach the holiday season it inspires us to think outside the box and design our next Christmas Tea. Colette began the annual Christmas Tea tradition many years ago and has always enjoyed hosting a gathering of friends in her home . Each year we take the time to relax and reflect on the joys this past year has brought to us. From a young age I remember serving the women tea, passing trays of food around the table and sneaking a few scones to my dad from the kitchen. Three years ago we decided to mix things up. As wedding planners we are asked often to design photo shoots, which can be costly and we often find them to be a waste of a beautiful table… So we began beautifully designing our Christmas Tea so that we could do a photo shoot and then invite all of our close friends in the industry over to enjoy it! We figure if you are going to set a stunning table you might as well throw a party right? We are now busy finalizing all the details for this year and thought we should share some of our favorite photos from 2010, 2011, and 2012, Enjoy!

How to plan a romantic beach proposal and ensure she says YES!

How to plan a romantic beach proposal and ensure she says YES! 150 150 La Fete Weddings

A few weeks ago I helped a friend plan the most romantic proposal for his new fiancé. It was an honor to be included in a day that they will both remember for the rest of their lives. So if you have recently been in the market for buying a ring and popping the question, here is how to plan a romantic beach proposal and ensure she says YES!

Rick, the future groom, called me to discuss his vision for the perfect proposal and I immediately jumped on board. His ideas were flawless and I knew it was certain to be one of the most elegant proposals. He explained that his future bride, Rachel, had always dreamed of riding horses on the beach… So we created a completely spontaneous experience for her… A wrangler from Los Padres Outfitters guided 3 beautiful horses down the beach and approached Rick and Rachel. They were simply enjoying a casual day at the beach- lounging on their towels at Rincon Point in Carpinteria.

As the horses approached, Rachel urged Rick to get up and pet the horses-which he knew she would do! The wrangler explained that “Her riders for the day had just cancelled last minute, and offered to take Rick and Rachel for a long ride down the beach.” Excitedly, Rick ran up to the car and grabbed Rachel a pair of jeans and t-shirt to enjoy the ride!

The unsuspecting couple rode off into the distance and the design team took over! I was accompanied by my fiancé and the grooms nephew and his wife, and thank goodness because I could not have done this without their help. We transformed their casual day at the beach into a  romantic proposal site . Red rose petals draped along the edge of a comfortable blanket, loaded with tons of pillows, flowers, and candles and Rachel’s favorite- chocolate dipped strawberries.  A dear friend of mine who is an extremely talented photographer, Yvonne Goll hid behind some foliage to capture each second of the proposal. Yvonne is really making a name for herself in the destination wedding world and I was blown away by how beautifully she captured this proposal. To see more of her work visit her website here!

As the sun began to set, Rachel changed into and adorable black romper and Yvonne was able to capture some of the most adorable portraits I have ever seen. You can literally feel the love through the images.

Rick and Rachel, I wish you a lifetime of happiness and everlasting romance that its clearly so prevalent in your relationship. It was truly an honor and a blessing to be a part of such a joyous occasion. I want to extend a giant thank you to everyone who helped make this day so special for these two: Yvonne Goll Photography, my darling fiancé Andrew, Rick’s nephew Dillon and his wife Christine.

Safari Wedding

Safari Wedding 150 150 La Fete Weddings

Zoe and Eric were married in New York City a month before this spectacular affair, and then they escaped for a 1 month African Safari. When we began designing their west coast celebration we thought “Why not bring your African Safari back to Santa Barbara?” Our minds raced with possibilities and when they agreed to bring in Stanley the Giraffe and Racer the Zebra, we couldn’t wait for this day to come! This event took place in Eric’s parent’s backyard in Montecito, a stunning Italian styled villa with the most incredible oak tree grove we have ever seen.

As the guests arrived they were greeted by Stanley, then driven in safari dressed golf carts where Racer was waiting for them at the top of the driveway. Then the guests enjoyed incredible hors d’oeuvres and cocktails created by Duo Catering. Laura Sangas of Cody Floral Design created these killer flower arrangements and she said had so much fun playing with leather and feathers on all of the little details.  Town & Country Event Rentals built a plank wood subfloor and then Ambient created the beautiful fabric draping and lighting.

The Bride and Groom spent hours hand drawing each of the table numbers. Such a creative couple and a very personal touch!

African Drummers dressed in traditional attire lead the guests from cocktail hour down the reception canopy.

This was a fantastic way to set the tone for the evening.

As soon as we had all of the guests on the dance floor we brought out the gorilla. This was a surprise to the Bride and Groom and such a fun way to end the evening! A special thank you to Melissa Musgrove Photography and Helena Kubicka De Braganca for capturing the stunning details of this safari wedding and creating last memories for this wonderful family. We were incredibly honored to be included in such a unique and festive event!

Stephanie and Andre’s Wedding at the Four Seasons Biltmore

Stephanie and Andre’s Wedding at the Four Seasons Biltmore 150 150 La Fete Weddings

The wedding that was held in honor of Stephanie and Andre was such a wonderfully personal and unique occasion. We started the day with a Hindu ceremony to incorporate Andre’s family traditions, and it was spectacular! Seriously, how amazing does she look in her Sari?! Everyone in Andre’s family played a role in this intimate ceremony whether it was playing an instrument, helping to get the bride ready, or setting up the different ceremony elements under the mandap.

Right after the Hindu ceremony ended, we brought in a full hair and make up team to switch her into her traditional bridal attire. It was so special to see her all dressed up in two completely different ways. Her personality and joy shows so beautifully throughout these photos by BB Photography.

The Bride hand painted a stunning orchid design which was her fathers favorite flower, which we incorporated in all of her invitation suite. Above you will see  the stunning programs that we had waiting for the guests attending the second ceremony. Further down you will see the same orchid design on her menu cards.

Tricia Fountaine designed all of the flower arrangements, and each piece was spectacular and unique. We loved working with her on this event!

The bride wanted a modern and contemporary design for her reception and loved the color red. We introduced the turquoise and she fell in love with color combination. The evening could not have been more breathtaking along the coastline of the Four Seasons Biltmore, such a wonderful location for a wedding and reception.

Villa Sevillano Wedding

Villa Sevillano Wedding 150 150 La Fete Weddings

Melissa and Jon chose something completely different for their wedding. They wanted a small intimate dinner party for a select few guests, and to really make it special for those people! They selected Villa Sevillano as their reception venue and also spent a few nights in the home. Because they chose and smaller guest count of about 56 people we were able to utilize the indoor space for their reception. We brought in two incredible long wood tables and dressed them in silver runners and Camilla Svensson Burns provided the stunning flowers! Melissa Musgrove captured this day so beautifully, we always love her work!

We are seriously IN LOVE with her bouquet!

After the ceremony the guests enjoyed cocktail hour around the pool outside. The couple loved the fact that Villa Sevillano had so many olive trees they decided to do an olive oil tasting during the cocktail hour. With a large selection of olive oils and  flavored balsamic vinegars for their guests to taste on display, they could then bottle their favorite flavors to take home! Such a fun and interactive idea for this venue.

As we welcomed the guests into the dining room for dinner, they each found a hand calligraphed envelope with their individual names on the outside. Inside was a sweet thank you note from the bride and groom thanking them specifically for being at their wedding and how much it meant to have each person there. This was an incredible touch for an intimate party, and everyone felt so loved and appreciated.
Once the guests had settled into their seats, the 7 course dinner began. Duo Catering provided the guests with a feast they could never forget. Each dish was perfectly paired with a special glass of wine. Here I have shown a sampling of a few of the courses.
After dinner the guests cozied up under the heaters on the outside terrace to enjoy coffee, cake and other mini desserts, then the party moved downstairs where they danced the night away with the DJ. The event was an incredible success and the bride and groom could not have been more thrilled with the way their wedding day unfolded. We loved working with Melissa and Jon and wish them a lifetime of love and happiness.
