After completing their first day of orientation at USC a large group of classmates decided to go out to happy hour and this is when Brian had the pleasure of sitting across from Courtney. The two quickly became good friends, and after a year of Brian trying to win Courtney over, the perfect opportunity fell into his lap! Their group of friends had all planned to go to a John Butler Trio concert, although someone had mistakenly purchased two tickets to the wrong night. As fate would have it, both Courtney & Brian ended up sacrificing their tickets for the other friends to go to the concert. That led to their pseudo first date and then two days later their official first date- and the rest is history!

When we began planning the wedding with Courtney & her mother we started by searching for wedding venues. They knew we had found the right place when we walked onto the grounds of the spectacular Villa Sevillano. With magnificently manicured grounds and formal terraced gardens, this impressive 6-bedroom Italian Villa was the perfect place to transform into their dream wedding.

The wedding ceremony was held at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel church in the heart of Montecito at 2:00 in the afternoon. After the full Catholic mass the guests arrived at the Villa for an intentionally “long-cocktail-hour!” We created a plush environment around the pool with charcoal grey lounge furniture groupings, tall communal dining tables & multiple bars and food stations! Good Gracious! catered a “Meat Lovers” station for the groom and a “New Orleans” food station for the bride- complete with frozen hurricanes and gumbo!  Guests mingled and enjoyed the music of the New Orleans style Dixie band.

We designed a tailored fabric draped tent with ivory petal covered panels in the center of the ceiling. We filled in the tent withRevelry Event Designer’s stunning mirror & chandelier glass top tables, which were accented with their linen upholstered chairs.Eddie Zaratsian added a decadent mix of all white modern flowers in mirrored vessels along with a selection of rosebud-embellished votive candles.

The Band from West Coast Music blew the guests away with their incredible talents and at the end of the night we surprised the guests by passing out LED sunglasses, necklaces, bracelets & other fun props to keep their party on the dance floor all night long!

La Fete’s Annual Christmas Tea 2013

La Fete’s Annual Christmas Tea 2013 150 150 La Fete Weddings

Over the past few years our annual Christmas Tea has evolved. What once began as a much larger party with around 12-15 women, has downsized into designing an elegant table top for a photo shoot, then we are able to sit down with about 6 of our dearest friends in the industry to reflect on what the year has brought us. The theme for this year’s tea was God’s goodness. We each shared how God has blessed us this past year and laughed over some of our favorite Christmas memories. The christmas tea has become an event that each of us look forward to each year. It is a place where we can share our hearts and be blessed by each others company. This year we designed our table around this fabulous blue linen by La Tavola. We fell in love with the color and thought we could really dress it up with TONS of textured candles. We also found the perfect chargers from BBJ Linens to complete the look! We added in the sleek and stylish ghost chairs from Town & Country, which accented all of the glass candlesticks and glassware and created a more modern look. Thank you so much to our dear friend Stephanie Hogue for taking these beautiful pictures for us this year!

We made homemade fresh fruit tarts for each guest, along with our signature heart shaped scones we make every year!

Wishing everyone a happy, healthy and successful 2014,

With love from Colette & Kaitlin at La Fete Weddings!

Villa Sevillano Wedding

Villa Sevillano Wedding 150 150 La Fete Weddings

Melissa and Jon chose something completely different for their wedding. They wanted a small intimate dinner party for a select few guests, and to really make it special for those people! They selected Villa Sevillano as their reception venue and also spent a few nights in the home. Because they chose and smaller guest count of about 56 people we were able to utilize the indoor space for their reception. We brought in two incredible long wood tables and dressed them in silver runners and Camilla Svensson Burns provided the stunning flowers! Melissa Musgrove captured this day so beautifully, we always love her work!

We are seriously IN LOVE with her bouquet!

After the ceremony the guests enjoyed cocktail hour around the pool outside. The couple loved the fact that Villa Sevillano had so many olive trees they decided to do an olive oil tasting during the cocktail hour. With a large selection of olive oils and  flavored balsamic vinegars for their guests to taste on display, they could then bottle their favorite flavors to take home! Such a fun and interactive idea for this venue.

As we welcomed the guests into the dining room for dinner, they each found a hand calligraphed envelope with their individual names on the outside. Inside was a sweet thank you note from the bride and groom thanking them specifically for being at their wedding and how much it meant to have each person there. This was an incredible touch for an intimate party, and everyone felt so loved and appreciated.
Once the guests had settled into their seats, the 7 course dinner began. Duo Catering provided the guests with a feast they could never forget. Each dish was perfectly paired with a special glass of wine. Here I have shown a sampling of a few of the courses.
After dinner the guests cozied up under the heaters on the outside terrace to enjoy coffee, cake and other mini desserts, then the party moved downstairs where they danced the night away with the DJ. The event was an incredible success and the bride and groom could not have been more thrilled with the way their wedding day unfolded. We loved working with Melissa and Jon and wish them a lifetime of love and happiness.

Perfectly Purple Wedding

Perfectly Purple Wedding 150 150 La Fete Weddings
When we met with Kelsey and Sterling we felt an instant connection to their hopes, dreams  and vision for their wedding day! Purple weddings have been a big hit this year and we can completely understand why… Look how incredible these purple flower arrangements are by Cody Floral Design. When we brought Kelsey, her mother and her new husband into the room to show them the final creation of the design, they all teared up and said “This is so much better than we could have ever imagined”… and that moment right there is exactly what makes this job so incredible and rewarding! A special thank you to Melissa Musgrove Photography for always capturing every single detail so beautifully. We would also like to thank the following professionals for helping us create such a stunning wedding:

Crystallized Purple Estate Wedding

What a joy it was to help Dana and Mike’s dreams come to reality. We couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful day to create such a breathtaking ceremony. The ocean reflected through the clear glass vases, and the large purple arrangements were spectacular.
One of our favorite elements of this wedding was the wedding cake hanging from a tree!
From the Mother of the Bride Via Yelp:

“Ive worked with La Fete Weddings on many weddings over the years so when it came time for my daughter’s wedding, June 30th, 2012, I knew Colette and Kaitlin would be a perfect fit.

Ive given a review based on my experience as a wedding photographer, but this review is based on my experience as a Mother of the Bride. She exceeded our expectations. Not just on a few things, but everything. Her talent, skill, grace, and attention to detail, is as good as it gets.

Colette and Kaitlin were remarkable. I rarely get to use the word remarkable. But that’s the word that fits our experience.

Our wedding was at a private estate. Which in itself presents so many extra challenges. But if there was a glitch, we never knew it. Absolutely everything was smooth as silk. She was right on with all her recommendations. (Of course I was smart enough to take her suggestions.) Tee hee..

I would, and do, recommend them in a heartbeat. I could never write all the details to which they cared for on our event. From the very start, they were asking questions and taking notes on things I would never have thought I needed to know.

The design they created was gorgeous, fluid, cohesive, and simply breathtaking.
My daughter wanted the color purple. If I’m honest, I winced a bit, because I had just come off of photographing 5 purple weddings in a row. Don’t get me wrong, I too love the color purple and all the weddings were very pretty. But I was hoping for something more unique so it would feel more personal.

Colette said “trust me”. I did. And it was glorious! My daughter and I could not imagine how anything could be more beautiful. The guests were so complimentary of the wedding and we have to thank Colette and Kaitlin for their vision and talent and love.

I wholeheartedly, and without reservation recommend LaFete Weddings for not only your wedding, but any event that you want to be beautiful and flawless.”

Christmas Tea 2011

Christmas Tea 2011 150 150 La Fete Weddings
It has been a tradition for many years to gather a few friends around the table for afternoon Christmas Tea, and this year wasn’t any different.  It is a time to reflect, share our hearts together as busy women, relax and enjoy each other’s company.  We laugh, cry, eat, drink champagne, and enjoy a few hours of refreshment together.   Preparing the tea, sandwiches, scones, cookies as well as setting the table has made such fond memories for Kaitlin and I.  This year we had fun finding all the flowers and putting the centerpiece together,  buying the ornaments, glassware and designing the table with the eggplant lamour linen and napkin from Creative Coverings , and the pretty topper by La Tavola called Paloma in Platinum.
It is a special time to say thank you to a few friends that we work so closely with.
It has become the highlight of the Christmas Season for us both.
We wish you all a very Merry Christmas, and a Healthy and Happy New Year!
See you in 2012~
Colette & Kaitlin

We Have Been Featured on Style Me Pretty Today!!!

We Have Been Featured on Style Me Pretty Today!!! 150 150 La Fete Weddings
There may not be a uniform in sight, but the Military Groom is present in this Santa Barbara fete. Soon to be sent over seas, this couple set out to plan a gorgeous wedding full of LOVE and worthy of every single last squeal heard around the office today. Bliss Photography captured all the monochromatic flower gorgeousness crafted by NLC Productions, not to mention the overall design perfection by La Fete. There’s really nothing not to love in this modern and drop dead gorgeous day.  Click here for more.
From La FeteWhen Ashley first met with me, she told me she wanted her wedding featured on Style Me Pretty. She had wonderful taste from the start and always held on to her vision from start to finish. She wanted an open-air canopy with flowing white fabric overhead, with the works! Crystal chandeliers, candlelight, a big white dance floor, along with abundant yet simple white flowers. As the designer and planner I had a fabulous time working with Ashley, she knew exactly what she wanted which made decision making and the planning process a dream. But don’t get me wrong we definitely ran into a few hiccups. Due to a high profile event, her wedding was FORCED to change locations, and as if that wasn’t enough, she found this out on the day her fiancé was being sent overseas in the military!
So it was up to me and the old location to work something out for my poor bride and that is when the sun comes out in this story. We were able to get her the most INCREDIBLE location. Honestly a dream location with a huge private polo field and an extraordinary compound off in the distance. We are talking 360 degree views of mountains, mansions, and the Pacific Ocean. I knew she would love it and the second she walked on that property she knew she had really lucked out! We went with a simple color palette of slate grey, and white but added all the glamour with the overhead fabric and chandeliers. We were working with a tight budget on this event, and I would say she really got a BANG for her buck. These images were provided by Mishelle Lamarand from Bliss Photography, and honestly she is insanely amazing. She calls herself one of the only “natural light photographer” and its really incredible to see how she works with lighting and I’m sure you can tell. I really hope you enjoy this event!

A Chic Contemporary Affair at the Bacara Resort

A Chic Contemporary Affair at the Bacara Resort 150 150 La Fete Weddings
A beautiful intimate ceremony was held on the Miro Lawn, our weather couldn’t have been more perfect for this very special couple.  Steve and Christine celebrated the whole weekend at the luxurious  Barcara Resort and Spa.  Christine in her gorgeous Monique Lhullier was simply stunning!  Camilla Svensson Burns provided the beautiful ceremony table and dressed out the chuppa with a silver grey dupioni fabric.  Her arrangements for our table top were perfect with our color palate.  Christine loved anything Channel.  We chose a tufted white banqettes for 1/2 the guest seating and also designed her cake with that in mind too. She loved the idea of fabric draping which was covered in hanging crystals all the way down the walls.  The custom round silver dance floor was the perfect touch for our design.  Both were provided by Barker Design. For the invitation designed suite we loved working with Lazaro Press,  Our first time working with the fabulous Yvette Roman she was not only a delight, she blew us away with how she captured this event.  The party rocked out with 11H Entertainment.  We had such a fun team on this one!  Thank you all~
Christine sent us the sweetest note after the event that we will keep forever~
“We and all of our guests had a fabulous time.  Our family and friends tell us the ceremony was the most beautiful and intimate wedding they have ever experienced, and the reception was one of the best parties they’ve attended.  We couldn’t have done it without you!  Thank you for your patience, dedication, and guidance.  You carried us throughout the entire process, from decor decisions to sensitive family members, and everything in between.  Your talent, expertise, and words of wisdom made our wedding the most joyful and loving experiences of our lives.”
Congratulations Christine and Steve, We adore you both!!!

Santa Barbara Neighborhood Clinics- Health Care Heroes #2

Santa Barbara Neighborhood Clinics- Health Care Heroes #2 150 150 La Fete Weddings

“The mission of Santa Barbara Neighborhood Clinics is to provide high quality, affordable, comprehensive healthcare to all people regardless of their ability to pay, especially those uninsured and otherwise underserved, while maintaining a welcoming environment and treating patients with compassion, dignity, and respect. We strive to achieve excellence and to maximize the potential of each employee, volunteer, and board member through a respectful and supportive organization

Over the past year, SBNC was responsible for over 70,000 total patient and health education visits.  Our average cost to deliver a patient’s visit is $154, but the average payment/reimbursement is only $65; we rely on grants and donations to fill this considerable funding gap. Our medical services prioritize preventative strategies and health education, even as we continue to serve 400 new patients each month.”

Last year we were able to help this wonderful charity out by donating the flower arrangements, some of our decor ideas, and providing gorgeous linens and napkins for the guests tables. The event is held again this year at the luxurious La Pacifica Ballroom at Four Seasons Biltmore in Santa Barbara.  This year we were given full control of the design and budget! It has been such a joy to work with such caring and giving people throughout the planning process and we can not wait to see this event come together! Please enjoy this inspiration board that we put together for this event, and we look forward to sharing more photos afterwards.
